Thank you for visiting my blog! I am a Brit who has been working as an official at the European Commission for nearly 30 years. I have spent most of my career in Brussels working on a wide range of issues including the EU single market, agricultural policy, automobiles legislation and above all trade policy. Most recently, I served as European Commission Ambassador first to South Korea and then to Canada.
In July, 2009, the European Commission sent me to Singapore as Visiting Fellow at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. I will be spending a full academic year here.
My aim in publishing this blog is to share with you:
- some of the issues in relations between the EU and Asia, which I will be addressing in my public lectures
- my comments on trade and investment relations between Europe and Asia, which I will be researching
- my personal impressions of life in Singapore
- the Asian view of Europe
